Perched on slender stilts above a steep, ocean-facing slope, this modular house frames sweeping, unobstructed views across the San Juan Channel. A clean, simple composition of rectilinear volumes step across the site, minimizing earthwork while preserving natural drainage and viewlines. North-facing living zones take full advantage of the panorama; generous south glazing and high clerestory windows harvest daylight and warmth without sacrificing privacy or the dramatic water outlook.

Programmed as compact, compartmentalized living wings, the plan separates active and quiet functions for efficiency and adaptability—guest suites and service spaces tuck into lower modules while primary living floats at the optimal vantage point. Intentional view corridors and glazed connections thread the volumes, choreographing framed vistas and cross-ventilation while keeping massing unobtrusive.

The kitchen is designed as the heart of the home: a custom, professional-caliber layout scaled for an enthusiastic cook and easy hosting, with durable surfaces, integrated storage, and seating that draws dinner guests into the action. Space-saving details—built-in banquettes, concealed appliances, multifunctional islands—maximize utility without clutter.

Exterior systems are chosen for resilience and low maintenance: a robust, maintenance-free facade of composite rainscreen and corrosion-resistant metal, elevated mechanicals, and accessible service points ensure long-term durability in the marine climate. The result is a thoughtful, intentional retreat—simple in form, rigorous in detail—where every element preserves the view, supports convivial living, and endures the coastal environment.
